Do I need a subscription to become a member?
A subscription to IEEE is not mandatory to participate in our teams. However, members with a subscription enjoy significant benefits, such as priority access to events with limited spots and participation in official IEEE competitions, among many others.
Must I actively participate in a scientific group/project?
Our goal is to create an active community. For this reason, we encourage every member to be part of at least one team and actively participate in one of its projects and figure out their schedule with the appropriate team leader or project manager.
Is any previous knowledge/experience required or can I learn through participating?
There are no prior knowledge requirements to join the Student Branch. However, team leaders or project managers may define specific skill or knowledge prerequisites for certain projects to ensure effective organization and successful outcomes.
How much time do I need to devote?
The time required depends on how many projects you participate in and the demands of each project. However, in most cases, dedicating just a few hours per week is sufficient.
Do I need to be an electrical or electronics engineer in order to participate?
No! The Student Branch is open to everyone, even non-engineers. In addition to the scientific groups, there are many other teams that manage important aspects of the Student Branch that are unrelated to engineering. You can get involved with these teams after discussing them through the registration process.
Must you be a student to be a part of the branch?
No. Although most members are usually undergraduates, mostly due to more free time, there is no limit to who can participate in our teams or attend our events.
